  • MY NEW BOOK HANDPICKED!

I'm so excited that it almost feels like my heart might almost stop at times. On March 14 my new book Handpicked, Seasonal Flowers, (Abrams Books) launches in the U.S! The book is full of inspiration, ideas and recipes for arrangements that flower lovers of all levels can do at home. It’s our signature style, just a little easier to put together and with fewer ingredients.

If you pre-order now, you will receive a pretty canvas bag with an image of my favorite flowers (from the book). Here is the link!

  • LARGE SCALE INSTALLATION CLASS

Click here to register (click through to March once you are on the FlowerSchool site).

So extremely thrilled to announce that I will be teaching two Master Classes at FlowerSchool New York on March 18 (followed by a book launch party on March 19). In one of the classes I will be showing how to create floral installs using chicken wire, flower tubes and eco wraps (such as the ones from Eco Fresh Bouquet).

These methods require a bit more planning but as a bonus they are less harmful for the environment (by reducing the use of floral foam). We will also discuss and share various ways to re-use the flowers and/or plants after an event.

I will also be teaching a Master Class where you will learn how to create a signature design from my new book Handpicked. I will tell you more about that class in the next few days!
In addition, all of the install work will stay up until the next day = March 19, when Flower School will be hosting a free(!) book launch party, with wine and light fare.

Please follow this link to register for all three of the above (click through to March once you are on the site).

Here also a description for the install Master Class from FlowerSchool New York:
"Tin Can Studios has a renowned ability for large-scale installations from living walls, to hanging floral chandeliers—their work is always impressive and inspiring. In this session, students will assist Ingrid in the development and installation of two to three large-scale projects within the FlowerSchool New York space. Here, students will learn the process and mechanics for conceptualizing and implementing these larger projects that Tin Can Studios is so recognized and celebrated for. Ingrid will begin the workshop with a slideshow and Q&A of her past work. Class is limited to 16 participants. Instructor: Ingrid Carozzi."

P.S. The list of Master Floral Designers teachers @flowerschoolny is impressive to say the least Lewis Miller, Emily Thompson, Matthew Robbins, Sullivan Owen, Oscar Mora, to name a few. I encourage all of you flower lovers to look at other upcoming classes as well! They are very fairly priced and you get to use a lot of flowers. Huge thanks to Cal Crary for all of your support ever since the get-go!

  • FORAGING FOR TV

I was recently asked by TV4 in Sweden to come and do a guest appearance on one of their most popular and oldest shows called Äntligen Hemma. Of course I accepted their offer! So while Ashley and Jessica kept things running at the studio, I jumped on a plane to Stockholm.

Once there I was met by two of my former apprentices, Hanna Piippo and Emelie Wallstedt, who helped me set up the studio (which Emelie kindly let me borrow for the recording).

Next I went out in to the woods to do some foraging and scored some fern, rose hip, oak branches and some stuff I don't even know the names of for the show. In Sweden it is legal to forage (responsibly of course!) so growing up there this came very natural to me.

Then we were sent off to a very generous wholesaler, S-blommor, who basically let us raid their entire inventory and load up three carts of amazing blooms.

Finally it was time to start shooting the show. Little did I know that I was going to do all the talking by myself (no host asking questions, what???). I think it turned out great in the end, much thanks to the super funny and talented crew at TV4 as well as a lot of help from my friends. Here it is if you feel like seeing me arrange some foraged foliage and flowers in a vintage sugar bowl using chicken wire as a base.

It is in Swedish of course, but you should watch it anyways, because the language of flowers is universal after all...

  • BROOKLYN FLOWERS: THE BOOK!

I am so very proud to announce the launch of my new book “Brooklyn Flowers”. It is an instructional book containing simpler flower arrangements made with the two main methods used here at Tin Can Studios: chicken wire and tape grid. The arrangements in the book are a simpler version of our typical style so that everyone can feel comfortable using the flower “recipes”.

There are also lots of images from my studio as well as street images from the Brooklyn neighborhoods around us such as Red Hook and Williamsburg. The beautiful photographs were all shot by critically acclaimed photographer Paul Brissman with a Hasselblad (my favorite camera!).

It will first be out in Sweden at Adlibris, Akademibokhandel, Bokus, NK, Åhlens, to name a few. We hope you get to take a look at a copy because we think you will really like it!! My co-author was the mega talented Eva Nyqvist who writes for a wide variety of publications such as Elle Decor and Gourmet. We got so many new ideas during the process that we are already talking about book two and three...
