BASICS - 4 week program
Over the years, our owner and creative director, Ingrid Carozzi, has trained numerous florists and helped them with the skills needed to either work as freelancers for some of the top florists in NY, or open their own successful floral studios (one of our apprentices even launched their own floral design book!). Many transition to joining our talented team and still work with us years later.
In addition to training apprentices in our studio, Ingrid also has extensive experience in teaching at FlowerSchool NY, FlowerSchool LA and New York Botanical Garden.
After receiving countless requests, we are now, for the first time ever, offering an ongoing 4-week floral design intensive for budding florists!
During these 4 weeks you will learn the basics in:
- Floral conditioning
- Shape, form and color for floral arranging
- Ikebana inspired style & bud vase compositions
- Lush, asymmetrical arrangements
- Large scale installation techniques
- Wedding design
- Weekly accounts
- How to write floral recipes
- Budgeting, ordering and purchasing
- Floral photography and styling
- Depending on your skill level you might also get a chance to work on real life projects!
Students can also decide to focus on specific areas of their choice. Please note we only accept one to two students per 4-week period and expect students to do lots of hands on training.
Sample schedule below:
Week 1
Thursday - introduction to the flower market, tools + basic flower conditioning
- 9.30am to 1pm
Friday - Ikebana inspired and basic floral arrangements - 11.30am - 2pm
Week 2
Thursday - Flower market run, purchasing, budgeting, + basic flower conditioning - 9.30am to 2pm
Friday - Basic floral arrangements, floral recipe writing and ordering - 11am - 3pm
Week 3
Thursday- picking up orders at the flower market, purchasing for large scale installations, weekly account basics + basic flower conditioning
- 9.30am to 1pm
Friday - Mini installation of choice in studio - 1pm - 3.30pm
Week 4
Thursday - Flower market run + basic flower conditioning - 9.30am to 1pm
Friday - Weekly accounts + basic wedding bouquet and boutonnières - 12noon to 4pm
For all of the above dates students are asked to stay outside of the listed hours to help out with additional work and arrangements in the studio. We therefor ask that you are able to schedule in an entire day in your calendar.

Please note: an additional $600 will be charged at the end of the program for materials used during the 4 weeks.
