  • SILVER LININGS

When the event industry came to a complete halt in New York we were forced to find other ways to stay afloat. We have all been hearing expressions such as “blessings in disguise”, "silver linings" and of course the word "pivot" quite a bit lately (don't think I had ever used that word before…) and to us the Bloom Boxes have certainly been one of those.

We had been wanting to offer flower subscriptions for quite a while, but never had time to dive in, with up to 5-6 events and/or installations per week when we were as busiest, so being forced into this new endeavor was actually pretty great after all.

Sending boxes of flowers to peoples homes, as well as to clients such as @google and @youtube for virtual events has been genuinely rewarding. The best part has been seeing everyone's unique take on flower arranging after using our recipes and/or watching our videos.

Thanks to all of you for participating and for sending us your pictures! Thanks also to The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times for reaching out to us to request information for your lovely write-ups!

  • MY NEW BOOK HANDPICKED!

I'm so excited that it almost feels like my heart might almost stop at times. On March 14 my new book Handpicked, Seasonal Flowers, (Abrams Books) launches in the U.S! The book is full of inspiration, ideas and recipes for arrangements that flower lovers of all levels can do at home. It’s our signature style, just a little easier to put together and with fewer ingredients.

If you pre-order now, you will receive a pretty canvas bag with an image of my favorite flowers (from the book). Here is the link!

  • POWER FLOWERS

Sometimes looking for inspiration is the most fun part of the process. Especially when it involves great music. When we made this arrangement for an intimate wedding in Red Hook we took cues from a New Order album cover designed by Peter Saville.

Saville suggested that flowers are seductive and used a french painting, from 1906, in his design as a symbol of power. We doubt that few people would argue that flowers aren't a powerful tool of seduction.

The arrangement we made works very well, both in size and shape, as a centerpiece at a wedding or a special event and is now available in our online shop. The flowers are arranged in a recycled urns which we have plenty of!
